DITO delivering ‘real 5G’ to Filipino homes

With high-performance connectivity being a staple in Filipino households, major telco player DITO Telecommunity seeks to fuel the country’s digital shift with “real” 5G speeds.

The expanded 5G footprint in the Philippines gives Filipinos access to information faster and smoother than ever before.

With high-performance connectivity being a staple in Filipino households, major telco player DITO Telecommunity seeks to fuel the country’s digital shift with “real” 5G speeds.

To support this, DITO continues to pour massive investments into its network build-up—delivering 5G speeds to subscribers directly from its 5G infrastructure. This is an upgrade from its main rivals’ dependence on non-standalone 5G network to enable their 5G services.

“Seeing our 5G standalone network as breakthrough connectivity, this is the real 5G we want to offer to Filipino subscribers nationwide. Since it started deploying its infrastructure, DITO Telecommunity has been investing in the latest technologies like 5G as part of our commitment to boost connectivity and unlock new opportunities for customers in every corner of the Philippines,” said DITO Telecommunity Chief Technology Officer Rodolfo D. Santiago.

5G technology enables Filipino to maximize hi-speed connectivity that:

1. Delivers ultrafast internet connection

Internet speeds from 5G networks can effortlessly beat 4G, with speeds that could hit 10 to up to 100 times faster than the latter, therefore allowing faster downloads and uploads.

2. Processes large volumes of data

With higher speeds, the 5G network  enables the transfer of huge volumes of data smoothly and with fewer delays.

3. Connects, reaches more devices

5G has greater capacity than 4G.

Whether  at home working or in crowded places outside, it is certain that there would be multiple devices like phones, laptops, and tablets competing to connect to a single router or home WiFi, which could be too heavy for a network. The congestion would result in poor internet performance especially for non 5G powered networks, causing frequent buffering during streaming or gaming and extra slow browsing speeds.

But with the power of 5G, its technology can accommodate mass numbers of devices while maintaining high-speed connections allowing uninterrupted browsing, gaming or streaming.

4. Provides lag-free experience

Everything would run faster with 5G’s promising speeds and capacity. With its lightning-fast speed and low latency, 5G technology enables a lag-free experience, allowing users to seamlessly stream high-quality videos, engage in real-time gaming, and perform other data-intensive tasks without any noticeable delays.

5. Enables new technologies

5G plays a critical role in pursuing the development of smart cities as it can support the connectivity requirements of other technologies, including the Internet of Things (IoT).

Supporting this strong demand for high-speed internet, DITO is not just empowering its mobile subscribers, but also Filipino households with DITO Home. With up to 500 Mbps of speed, DITO Home can connect up to 32 devices, enabling Filipinos to upgrade their digital lifestyles and pushing them to do more.

“DITO is committed to delivering much faster and more reliable 5G connection speeds, and we are excited to cover more areas as we ramp up our expansion,” Santiago said.

DITO Home is now present in about 500 barangays across Metro Manila and 50 barangays in Cebu, with thousands of Filipino families experiencing DITO’s fastest internet yet.

As it rolls out more 5G sites, the company is on track to reach more Filipino homes. As of end-2022, the company was able to build nearly 6,000 towers across the country and covered more than 700 areas.
