Visa, Maya enable Maya wallet cards for Google Wallet and Google Pay

This expands on Maya’s earlier Google Wallet and Google Pay rollout for credit cardholders in November 2025, when it was one of the first issuers in the Philippines to launch the payment technology.

Visa, a global leader in digital payments, and Maya, the Philippines’ leading digital financial services platform, have now enabled Maya wallet cards for Google Wallet and Google Pay, providing consumers with more secure, seamless ways to make digital payments. With this rollout, Google Pay is now available across all Maya Visa cards—credit and wallet, physical and virtual.

This expands on Maya’s earlier Google Wallet and Google Pay rollout for credit cardholders in November 2025, when it was one of the first issuers in the Philippines to launch the payment technology. Now, Maya wallet cardholders can pay using Google Pay across shops, public transport, and tourist destinations, giving consumers more options to pay while encouraging merchants to embrace digital payments acceptance.

Google Pay transactions are enabled by Visa’s tokenization technology. Tokens are used to create seamless and secure payment experiences for consumers and businesses, helping to significantly reduce fraud by replacing actual card numbers with unique digital tokens and preventing cardholders’ real account information from being shared with merchants or stored in devices.

“The Philippines is undergoing a rapid shift to contactless, digital payments, and Visa and Maya are playing a crucial role in enabling this transformation. With every contactless transaction, we provide speed, convenience, and security for Filipino consumers, reinforcing adoption and trust in new payment technologies. This also aligns closely with the government’s vision to become a cash-lite economy,” noted Jeffrey Navarro, Country Manager for Visa Philippines.

“At Maya, we are committed to giving our customers smarter and more convenient ways to manage their money and pay for everyday purchases. Enabling Google Pay for Maya Visa wallet cards extends the simplicity and flexibility our users expect, allowing them to make secure contactless payments using the mobile phones and devices they already use every day,” said Shailesh Baidwan, Maya Group President and Maya Bank Co-Founder.

Across Asia Pacific, more than 71% of consumers already prefer to use mobile or smart devices when making in-store or online payment transactions. Enabling digital transactions also help boost tourism, as Visa research show that 97% of travelers in the region say they want to use credit, debit, or prepaid cards when traveling, and only 17% intend to bring cash.
