The Philippines ranks among Asia Pacific’s top adopters of digital remittances, according to Visa’s Money Travels: 2025 Digital Remittances Adoption Report, which covers 44,000 remittance senders and receivers in 20 key countries and territories. Around 74% of Filipinos have opted to send money through digital means, while 66% prefer to receive remittances digitally. Close to half, or 45% of respondents, have also cited digital remittances as a safe and private way to send and receive funds.

There are 8 out 10 Filipinos who have used GCash, underscoring its reach and impact in everyday payments across the country. Across all demographics, Filipinos have embraced digital apps when sending and receiving remittances. Digital apps are preferred by older users, with 100% of respondents from the Philippines aged 65 and above planning to send remittances digitally. This is higher compared to the 45-64 age bracket (72%), 35-44 bracket (75%), and 18-34 bracket (74%).
