Garmin launches ECG App for PH users

The ECG App is an FDA-cleared app that allows users to record their heart rhythm and check for signs of atrial fibrillation (AFib) right from their smartwatch.

Garmin announced the expansion of its ECG App to the Philippines, now available across a range of units available in the country.

The ECG App is an FDA-cleared app that allows users to record their heart rhythm and check for signs of atrial fibrillation (AFib) right from their smartwatch. Users in the Philippines can now use the app to record a 30-second electrocardiogram (ECG) and view their heart rhythm results immediately on the watch or later in the Garmin Connect smartphone app.

“We are pleased to bring the ECG App to even more of our users, including those with our flagship epix Pro and fēnix 7 Pro series smartwatches. We take pride in offering premium health and wellness features across our smartwatch lineups and this tool that lets our users in the Philippines conveniently take an ECG recording when they want only adds to the suite of innovative features to help them stay on top of their health,” said Scoppen Lin, Assistant General Manager, Garmin Asia.

Compatible Smartwatches

The ECG App is now available on the epix Pro series, fēnix 7 Pro series, Venu 2 Plus, Venu 3 series, and tactix 7 – AMOLED Edition smartwatches for customers in the Philippines. To utilize this feature, users need to ensure that they have the latest version of the Garmin Connect smartphone app and smartwatch software installed.

To get started, simply download or update the Garmin smartphone app to its latest version to see the feature within. The dedicated ECG App portal on Garmin’s official website also contains instructions on using its ECG feature. The Garmin Connect app is available to download for free on the App Store and Google Play Store.

Monitor On the Go

The ECG app utilizes sensors embedded in the compatible smartwatch to record the electrical signals controlling users’ heart’s rhythm, producing an electrocardiogram (ECG). By analyzing this data, the app not only provides accurate heart rate but also alerts the user for any irregular heart rhythms detected.

Furthermore, users can choose to sync their results to Garmin Connect where they can review their history of results and generate reports to share with healthcare providers.
