Working with a robust ecosystem of cloud software vendors

Simplifying cloud offerings the Dell way.

Dell has been a pioneer in cloud computing starting from the early days of x86 server virtualization and with a more than a decade-long close collaboration with VMware, Microsoft and open standards communities.

“Our contributions to cloud computing have grown along with industry adoption rates over the past several years,” said Christopher Papa, Dell Philippines country manager. “Today, Dell uniquely addresses the full life cycle of cloud computing from the end client to data center software and hardware along with a broad range of services and flexible cloud financing. Dell supports customers globally with private, managed, public and hybrid clouds.”

In the case of Dell, “we’re seeing consistent growth in our cloud offerings, ranging from VDI solutions to data center-focused engineered solutions designed specifically for cloud environments. In particular, we’ve seen the CIO debate change from ‘public or private cloud’ to a general consensus that the true end state is a hybrid cloud approach that holistically manages a combination of both.”

Papa said that one of the biggest challenges in cloud adoption is the continuing confusion of many about cloud and its benefits. This is why Dell “offers cloud-specific reference architectures and engineered solutions, which are finely tuned, pre-tested systems that greatly simplify private and hybrid cloud deployment and management for our customers.”

For example, the Dell Hybrid Cloud System for Microsoft is a co-engineered solution that delivers a validated, end-to-end Azure cloud infrastructure with full management support for Azure Services. It helps customers to deploy a hybrid cloud quickly and easily in as little as three hours. It allows customers to govern policies, control user access and manage applications across private and public clouds with robust multi-cloud management and control.

Papa noted that in the Philippines, cloud adoption is more established at the telecommunication industry from both consumer and service provider perspectives. “However, we’re seeing cloud adoption to be gaining ground now in enterprises from the banking, manufacturing, and retail industries, including the government sector, as companies look for ways to reduce their hardware/software costs while achieving efficiencies and agility in running their business through IT,” Papa said.

To continue growing its cloud-based offerings in the Philippines, “Dell works with a robust ecosystem of cloud software vendors such as VMware, Microsoft and Red Hat to deliver cloud solutions that are best-in-class, solutions–engineered, validated and supported by Dell. With a broad portfolio of proven reference architecture and engineered solution blueprints, we provide Philippine customers with a comprehensive, secure and scalable cloud infrastructure that they can grow at their own terms,” Papa ended.
