Voyager’s freenet brings more mobile rewards and digital experiences to Filipinos

With eight million users as of end-August 2018, freenet has been opening up new ways for consumers and enterprises to connect. The free internet and rewards app is now the no. 1 free lifestyle app on Google Play in the country, helping further accelerate digital adoption and usage among Filipinos.

Voyager Innovations announced that it is bringing more mobile rewards and free digital experiences so Filipinos can enjoy the best of the Internet through its freenet mobile app and platform.

With eight million users as of end-August 2018, freenet has been opening up new ways for consumers and enterprises to connect. The free internet and rewards app is now the no. 1 free lifestyle app on Google Play in the country, helping further accelerate digital adoption and usage among Filipinos.

Freenet users earn points by completing “missions” within the app, which could range from visiting partner sites, downloading partners’ apps on their phones, or inviting new members to download and register with the app using their unique referral codes. They can then redeem these earned points in exchange for telco load and data packages from Smart, Sun, TNT and Globe as well as gaming ePins and digital vouchers.

With the expanded offer, freenet is stepping up its rewards to include digital vouchers for goods and experiences. Voyager Innovations expects that this will foster increasing digital behavior among consumers.

To kick off the expanded offer to its users, freeenet launched its innovative “Freeniversaya: a FREEnet concert” event, which allows users to redeem FREE concert tickets using the points they have accumulated from being loyal users of the freenet app.

The concert, slated for September 20 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, is being headlined by top OPM acts that include Bamboo, Gloc-9, Moira dela Torre, KZ Tandingan, Shanti Dope, Ben&Ben, and Hashtags.

“We started with telco load and data packages for all networks in the freenet shop, then recently expanded to gaming e-Pins which were such a huge hit among Filipino gamers,” said Dindo Marzan, VP and managing director for Marketing Technologies at Voyager. “This time we’re giving a more rewarding experience to our users by enabling them to redeem free concert tickets using the points they accumulated within freenet.”

Connecting the ‘unconnected’

Marzan said the massive popularity of freenet–particularly among the young and price-sensitive mobile users—suggests a pent up demand for sponsored data and rewards in the Philippines, where a third of the population is still unable to experience always-on Internet.

Latest data from We Are Social show that the number of Internet users stands at 67 million Filipinos as of 2018, translating to 63% of the population.

“Whether it’s accessing our partners’ apps and sites or redeeming data packages using their points, the goal of freenet from the start has always been simple: to connect the unconnected and underserved so that they can take part in the growing digital economy,” Marzan added.

On top of the Freeniversaya concert, freenet app users can also get a chance to win prizes everyday for your daily dose of happiness with Dailygaya Raffle Promo. Every day, until September 29, a lucky freenetizen will take home awesome prizes from freenet – from PayMaya credits, sodexo GCs, to brand new smartphones and motorcycles.

Currently, freenet also offers free data access to select apps and sites to Smart, TNT, and Sun subscribers nationwide. Some of the free apps and sites that can be accessed without data charges through the platform include PayMaya, Lendr, Lazada, Zalora, Unionbank, and Philstar.com, among others.

Aside from access to partner apps and sites, freenet also offers limited-time access to select sites during “Netzee Hour,” including free daily access to Facebook, Instagram, and Clash of Clans from 7AM-8AM; Twitter and Rules of Survival from 12NN-1PM; and Mobile Legends from 8PM-10PM.

Initially launched as SafeZone in 2015, freenet is available to all mobile users in the Philippines by simply installing the app from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
