LG introduces smaller, more affordable versions of G3; rolls out round smartwatch

G3 Beat

LG has introduced smaller and affordable versions of its multi-award-winning smartphone LG G3–the G3 Beat and G3 Stylus. The offsprings have some similarities with the G3 when it comes to design and software features. They have buttons on the back, and use the same plastic-based “metallic skin” for a similar look and feel.

G3 Stylus

LG is hoping the pen-enabled G3 Stylus smartphone will attract budget buyers with its big screen and 13-megapixel camera. It inherits the core DNA of the LG G3. LG’s proprietary Rubberdium stylus pen slides inside the G3 Stylus, complementing the phone’s 5.5-inch large display.

Users can pair it with LG’s QuickMemo+ to take notes or draw directly on images or maps in a breeze. The stylus is also compatible with a number of third-party handwriting and drawing apps.

With a suggested retail price of Php16,990, the G3 Stylus is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor and the 5.5-inch screen has a 960 by 540 pixel resolution. With the stylus, users will be able to take notes and sketch on the screen. There is also 8GB of integrated storage that can be expanded using a microSD card and 1GB of RAM. It has a 3,00mAh removable batter.

The G3 Stylus will be offered in dual SIM with near field communication (NFC) capability in three colors: Black, White and Gold.

G3 Beat

Cheaper than the stylus at P13,990, the LG G3 Beat retains the best features and functions of the G3 in a more compact and handy package. The LG G3 Beat comes with a largest-in-class 5.0-inch HD IPS display with a screen-to-body ratio of 74.1 percent, the highest in the mid-tier smartphone segment.

The LG G3 Beat offers thin bezels and a robust 2,540mAh battery that is removable. It features the Floating Arc

Design first unveiled on the LG G3, boasting smooth curved sides and gradually tapered edges for the ultimate comfort in grip and feel.

The Beat is a far cry from the cutting-edge specs found in the full blown G3. It has a 1.2GHz quad-core CPU, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage and room for a microSD memory card. Connectivity includes 4G Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and GPS.

Both the G3 Beat and G3 Stylus’ 8MP and 13MP shooters, respectively, carry over the G3’s key camera features such as Touch & Shoot, Gesture Shot and Front Camera Light. Additional UX features that have become standard offerings across LG’s newest smartphones include Dual Window, Smart Keyboard and Knock Code. Both also have the same Floating Arc design with gradually tapered edges, thin bezels and metallic skin back cover that was first introduced on the LG G3. Both devices also sport the revolutionary rear key.
