Designed to protect engine against wear and corrosion, reduce maintenance costs and provide fuel economy enhancements for the motorcycle-riding public, the next-generation natural gas-based Shell Advance Ultra with PurePlus Technology was recently launched by Shell Philippines.
A gas-to-liquid (GTL) process developed over 40 years of research, PurePlus Technology converts natural gas into crystal-clear base oil which is virtually free of impurities that are the norm with mineral oil-based lubricants. This base oil, which constitutes approximately 75% to 90% of the motorcycle oil, is further combined with Active Cleansing additives to create a 100% synthetic lubricant that cleans as it protects the engine and prevent the build-up of dirt.
“The underlying principle for our revolutionary Gas-to-Liquid or GTL-oil based lubricants is simple: A clean engine is the first step to better protection and an optimized, more efficient power transmission,” said Serge Bernal, Shell Lubricants marketing manager for Thailand and Philippines.
The Shell Advance Ultra with PurePlus Technology helps maintain longer engine peak power as oil viscosity is enhanced, maintaining oil performance not only in extreme temperatures but also in low temperatures – flowing rapidly for easier engine start-up and faster engine warm-up.
In terms of durability, Shell Advance Ultra with PurePlus Technology lasts two times as long as a typical oil change interval. The lubricant also provides increased fuel economy, giving users an average of five kilometers more per liter of fuel.
In addition, motorcycle engine is assured of improved protection against the build-up of dirt deposits and unsurpassed sludge protection. These help prevent wear and corrosion to extend engine life and reduce maintenance costs. The lower volatility of the oil contributes to having less frequent top-ups and more savings for users.
“As a result, your bike’s engine is able to consistently perform at its peak and stays in grade until the next oil change so that you can enjoy every ride,” said Dennis Javier, Shell Lubricants business manager for Thailand and Philippines. “With an ever increasing number of motorcycles on Philippine roads, we believe Shell Advance Ultra with PurePlus Technology will improve the riding experience of the bikers, given the varied climatic and geographical conditions in the country,” he added.
Coming in one-liter packs, the Shell Advance Ultra with PurePlus Technology 10w-40 is available in March this year in Shell retail stations and motorcycle parts and supply shops nationwide.
Meanwhile, the company’s commitment to technological innovations such as the Shell Advance Ultra with PurePlus Technology is said to be an indication of its continued support for the motorcycle industry. Its partnership with Italian motoring brand Ducati was brought to greater heights as the product launching coincides with their 17th year of collaboration in the MotoGP season this year. The partnership between Shell and Ducati achieved more than 150 race wins and a total of seven Riders’ World Titles in MotoGP and the World Superbike championship.
