President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. visited the state-of-the-art Angeles Data Center of leading fiber broadband and digital infrastructure provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc. Together with Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Henry Aguda and other government officials, the President inspected the facility, which is strategically positioned to support the nation’s data sovereignty agenda.
The presidential visit follows the issuance of Executive Order (EO) No. 119, which updates decades-old rules on how state agencies handle digital transactions. The new decree seeks to enhance cybersecurity, and support the secure digital transformation of government through unified rules on data classification, data residency, and cross-border data transfers.
“We are preparing for the future right now. By establishing our own sovereign data center, cloud and AI infrastructure, we are safeguarding our nation’s data, bridging our islands, and ensuring the Philippines is ready for the AI era,” said President Marcos during his visit.
To meet the strict standards under EO 119, Converge is offering its 12-megawatt, Uptime Tier III Certified, AI-capable data center in Angeles City—home to its Converge Cloud system—as a localized “sovereign cloud” for the government. This infrastructure enables state agencies to migrate their systems out of costly, foreign-hosted servers and into a secure, highly protected facility operated entirely within national borders.
