As part of ongoing efforts to boost workplace safety and emergency readiness, PLDT and Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) successfully conducted a comprehensive Fire Safety Seminar and Drill in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Makati City.

Held recently at three of the PLDT Group’s Makati offices, the drills were facilitated by PLDT and Smart Facility Emergency Management Teams and Fire Brigade in collaboration with fire safety experts from BFP Makati and focused on updated procedures for fire awareness, prevention, and immediate response to small-scale fire incidents.

“These activities are vital in equipping our employees with the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively in emergencies,” said Engineer Kristine Gonzalez-Catague, Head of Environment, Health and Safety at PLDT. “By fostering a culture of preparedness, we are ensuring that every employee is equipped to respond effectively in times of crisis.”

The drills included building-wide evacuation exercises, hands-on training on the proper use of fire extinguishing tools, and live demonstrations of first aid application. To ensure inclusivity and wider reach, series of hybrid Fire Safety Seminars, were also organized and well participated by employees across the organization.

These initiatives are part of PLDT and Smart’s commitment to building disaster resilience of communities and align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
