In response to growing customer requirements, Teradata, a Big Data analytics platform, marketing applications and consulting services provider, has opened its second facility in the Philippines.
Dubbed as the Teradata Philippines main Americas Development Center (ADC), the facility was established in response to the growing requirements of Teradata’s key customers across Canada, United States, Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Colombia.
Located at the EcoTower Building in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig City, the new office will house hundreds of new employees, roughly doubling the current headcount of more than 500 over the next 12 months.
Having chosen Manila as one of Teradata’s key delivery centers has made the Philippines the company’s second largest professional services provider worldwide.
“Teradata’s investment in the Philippines will definitely help boost our economic growth by creating more jobs,” said Ella Mae Ortega, Country Manager for Teradata Philippines. “We strongly believe that the Philippines is well positioned to supply the skilled resources required to implement and support Big Data project for our clients in the Americas.”
Robert Cromer, Vice President, Americas Development Center for Teradata, said that the growth in headcount, along with the investment in real estate and equipment will provide Teradata with additional capacity to provide high-quality professional services for clients in the Americas region.
“The new Philippines office will provide additional services capabilities for our Big Data analytics, database migration and managed services segments – areas where we see the most demand from our clients,” explains Cromer. “These capabilities cover data integration, operational support, migration, business intelligence, Big Data analytics, testing, marketing, application development and support services.”
Cromer said the new center will boost Teradata’s efforts in helping clients tackle Big Data and business analytics challenges.
According to Cromer, the company will recruit potential employees from selected top local universities and colleges through its program in the Philippines, making Teradata the largest concentration of professional analytics.
Ortega said that the company needs the resources and the people that will contribute a lot in the delivery of all the services required by their customers.
Ortega also noted that the program will introduce the Teradata University Network (TUN) to selected universities and colleges. TUN is an online training offered where educational institutions can access different topics around analytics, database programs and data warehousing. It also provides online demos and hands-on trainings.
In TUN, selected universities and colleges will be involved in building a curriculum for data analytics and data warehousing, in enrolment, and in providing topics for programs they will offer.
Currently, Teradata supports and services the telecommunications, retail, travel and transport industries in the Philippines.
