PLDT, Smart fast-track restoration as Egay departs, offer free calls and free charging to worst-hit areas

The Group’s network operations and emergency response teams have been working around the clock to bring back network services in worst-hit areas.

PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) are hastening the restoration of their fixed and wireless networks in areas experiencing commercial power failure due to typhoon #EgayPH.

The Group’s network operations and emergency response teams have been working around the clock to bring back network services in worst-hit areas.

“Based on the initial assessment of our teams on the ground, PLDT and Smart’s network remains resilient except in areas with power outages and damaged infrastructure, and disruptions reported can be considered manageable. Our command center continues to monitor the situation,” said Cathy Yang, First Vice President and Head of Group Corporate Communications at PLDT and Smart.

PLDT and Smart will also begin operating Libreng Tawag (free calls) and Libreng Charging (free charging) stations in the following sites to serve the communication needs of affected residents.
