NegOcc’s senior citizens register SIMs with help from Smart, TNT, DICT

Smart and TNT set up an assisted SIM Registration booth in front of the DICT’s provincial office in Aguinaldo St., Barangay 4 in Bacolod City to help more mobile users register their SIM cards, including senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and other subscribers using legacy phones.

Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) and its value brand TNT supported the efforts of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Negros Occidental to ramp up SIM Registration among mobile users in the province.

“We at Smart are one with DICT Negros Occidental in its efforts to expedite SIM Registration among subscribers in the province of Negros Occidental, underscoring our commitment to protect our customers against SIM-aided criminal activities,” said Ediner Tinio, Center Head and AVP, Regional Customer Development for Western Visayas at Smart.

Joel Cardino, 61, was one of the subscribers who visited the booth and sought assistance in his registration. “This initiative is helpful for senior citizens like me who are still unfamiliar with the SIM registration process. I really made sure to register my SIM as this is also for my own good,” Cardino said.

Additionally, DICT Negros Occidental and Smart also extended their SIM Registration assistance to the teacher members of Kabankalan-Ilog Teachers & Employees Multipurpose Cooperative (KITEMPCO) during the coop’s annual general assembly.
