With challenges hounding the logistics and supply chain sector such as the problem in the inbound and outbound of goods from warehouses to suppliers coupled with the problems in the management of goods in ports, the sector needs to adopt a digital solution designed to improve logistics and supply chain.
Frans Kok, AEB (AsiaPacific) Pte. Ltd. general manager, said the solution should handle customs procedures like regulatory requirements and the entire control of the supply chain.
It should provide information that can produce enough transparency in the business processes, and enough data of various organizations involved. Kok cited as an example, the operators who are loading and unloading the vessels and work independently from others, and have the control of incoming and outgoing of goods. All these have to be managed, he said.
Kok said all these activities have to be managed as they have many customers who really want to have full transparency along the supply chain, in data forthcoming from ports, from customs authorities, and even from transport companies. The solution also helps manage for example, shipment of products that are overdue, all products in the warehouses, and even list of misplaced inventories posted on wrong locations.
Apart from these, there is a need for Philippine ports to be digitally transformed as the local logistics sector is expected to grow by 8% to 10%. There is also an annual shortage of 50,000 pallet positions in local warehouses.
To address these pressing challenges that slow down supply chains, the Germany-based logistics firm AEB is set to unveil its Warehouse Management System (WMS) in the Philippines during the Supply Chain Trilogy 2023 which will take place on March 15 at the BGC Arts Center in Taguig City.
