Globe joins Opensignal’s ‘Global Rising Stars’ for 3rd straight year

In 2021, Globe upgraded and expanded 22,300 mobile sites to 4G LTE, built over 2,000 5G sites and in-building solutions, constructed 1,407 new 4G LTE cell sites, and laid down 1.4 million fiber-to-the-home lines.

Globe was recognized by independent mobile analytics firm Opensignal as a Global Rising Star for the third consecutive year in its 2022 Global Mobile Network Experience Awards report.  It excelled in five categories: 4G Availability,  Video Experience, Voice App Experience, Download Speed Experience, and Upload Speed Experience.

Globe joined the top 30 operators worldwide, which were bestowed the Opensignal 2022 Global Rising Star status for having “made rapid progress in improving the experience of their users in a short period of time.”

Between the second half of 2020 and the same period in 2021, Globe posted a 6.6% improvement in 4G Availability against the global average of 0.7%.

Globe’s Video Experience results jumped by 17.4%, way over the global average of 3.5%. It also registered an 8.6% hike in Voice App Experience, better than the 1% global mean score.

Likewise, the company increased its Download and Upload Speed Experience ratings by 51.3% and 36.5%, respectively, compared to the worldwide average of 28% for download and 20.9% for upload.

We are intent on further enriching our customers’ digital experience with essential life services like education, health and fintech,” said Ernest Cu, Globe President and CEO.

In 2021, Globe upgraded and expanded 22,300 mobile sites to 4G LTE, built over 2,000 5G sites and in-building solutions, constructed 1,407 new 4G LTE cell sites, and laid down 1.4 million fiber-to-the-home lines.

This year, Globe allocated P89 billion for its capital expenditures to build new cell towers, upgrade existing sites to 4G LTE, accelerate the rollout of 5G and ramp up the fiberization of Filipino homes nationwide.

Providing customers with superior network experience is part of Globe’s sustainability practice in support of UN SDG 9 focused on Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.
