Maybank bets on Lenovo computers to achieve expansion goals

To achieve its goal of increasing its branches to 200 by year 2018, Maybank needed a cost-friendly and reliable hardware system.

Maybank uses laptops and desktops for processing requests, planning and testing programs, and operating applications. Any technology malfunction can result in data loss and have negative impact on customer confidence. To achieve its goal of increasing its branches to 200 by year 2018, Maybank needed a cost-friendly and reliable hardware system.

Having grappled with challenges stemming from outdated systems and hardware, Maybank turned to Lenovo as its PCs and laptops satisfied Maybank’s speed, cost, and power requirements. Maybank acquired All-in-One (AIO) PCs, ThinkCentre M81 and M82, and the Lenovo Z470, S400, Y450, Y460, G470, G480, and B450 laptops, as these were compatible with their processor-intensive programs and could work for long hours. Maybank also furnished their branches with Lenovo AIO PCs for customers’ Internet banking use.

“Our branches have anywhere from one to three workstations where customers can transfer funds, process their online enrolment, and send inquiries without the need to go through the teller or bank staff. Lenovo’s solutions have helped us provide fast and efficient service to our customers,” said Edmund Reyes, Vice President and IT Head, Information and Technology Division.

Before shifting to Lenovo, Maybank used outdated systems and hardware which posed troubleshooting problems owing to the lack of available support. Maybank’s previous PCs and laptops showed performance issues and even broke down within a two-year span.

Savings on support cost
Using Lenovo computing devices has given Maybank savings in support cost. By using Lenovo’s efficient solutions, Maybank witnessed an increase in service levels and decrease in the number of customer calls.

With Maybank’s IT team now looking into ways to integrate information and databases of their field staff to their office database, the bank plans to buy more Lenovo products to serve their fast-growing client base.

“Lenovo has allowed us to quickly adapt and progress in this age of mobility, with PCs and laptops that support our multiple needs. As we continue to streamline processes and expand our scope of products and services, we are confident in fostering rapid growth by leveraging on Lenovo devices,” said Reyes.

Today, Lenovo PCs provide Maybank with reliable IT systems with damage recovery and high-speed data connectivity to facilitate data management, programing, technical writing, and testing. Maybank employees are able to multi-task and use heavy applications simultaneously, which  enhance productivity.
