Caltex partners with Visa to introduce Visa payWave

Caltex, through Chevron Philippines, partnered with Visa to offer its customers at all its participating stations nationwide a secure payment option with the introduction of Visa payWave, a solution that uses a contactless card payment application.

With Visa payWave, Visa cardholders making fuel purchases worth P2,000 and less are allowed to wave his/her Visa card in front of a reader to pay without swiping, signing a receipt or entering a PIN. For purchases over P2,000, however, cardholders are required to sign for a particular transaction or enter a PIN.

The contactless card has an embedded chip, which contains an antenna that transmits payment instructions to and from a reader. Once the cashier enters the purchase amount into the terminal, the card is just waved, and the transaction is done. The terminal then issues a receipt.

As part of the collaboration, Chevron and Visa will be holding the “Drive Away a Millionaire” promo starting April 21 to July 31. Visa cardholders using Visa payWave to purchase any Caltex fuel (Platinum with Techron, Silver with Techron and diesel with Techron D) at participating stations will get the chance to win Visa card credit worth P1 million.

Three motorists will also receive one-year Starcash worth P100,000. Each Caltex fuel-up using Visa payWave entitles motorists to three raffle entries for every P500 payment increment, while each Visa contact transaction is equivalent to one raffle entry.
