Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) welcomes Leo L. Capinpin, Country General Manager and Technology Leader of IBM Philippines, and Emil Andre M. Garcia, President of Vivant Corporation, as its newest trustees.

As a founding member, IBM Philippines has been a long-standing partner in advancing education and workforce development in the country. It brings together software, consulting, and infrastructure to help clients address critical business challenges. Mr. Capinpin brings over 25 years of experience in IBM and leads business strategy, sales, and technical functions with his expertise in the financial services sector and IT services, including hardware and software infrastructure technology solutions.

PBSP likewise welcomed Vivant Corporation as the new trustee representing members in the Visayas, and assuming the chairmanship of the Visayas Regional Committee.
Vivant Corporation holds investments across various segments of the power value chain, with a growing interest in infrastructure development. A PBSP member since 2009, Vivant has been a strong collaborator in reforestation projects in Cebu. Mr. Garcia serves as President for both Vivant Corporation, the publicly-listed Cebu-based holding company with investments in energy and water, and Vivant Energy Corporation, where he leads the company’s investments and operations across conventional and renewable energy generation, power distribution, and retail electricity across the country.

Garcia joins the Board following the conclusion of Jose Antonio “Tonio” Y. Aboitiz’s tenure representing Davao Light and Power Company, Inc.

PBSP extends its deepest appreciation to Mr. Aboitiz for 18 years of leadership and stewardship for the organization. During his tenure, he served as Chair of the Visayas Regional Committee as well as the Audit and Risk Management Committee, and contributed to PBSP’s work across several development initiatives. Among these were his consistent support for relief efforts for communities affected by typhoons and flooding across the country, as well as the Olango Challenge, an annual open-water swimming event that raised funds to build schools for the students in Olango Island.
