Globe expands 5G in Misamis Oriental

Misamis Oriental is vital to regional mobility and commerce. The growth of industrial zones, business districts around Cagayan de Oro, and the adoption of e-commerce and fintech highlight the need for reliable, high-performance connectivity. Globe’s network improvements ensure communities and enterprises have the infrastructure to match this momentum.

Globe is accelerating Misamis Oriental’s digital transformation with expanded 5G coverage and sustained network upgrades, reinforcing the province’s role as a key economic gateway in Northern Mindanao. Strategically located along Macajalar Bay, Misamis Oriental is vital to regional mobility and commerce. The growth of industrial zones, business districts around Cagayan de Oro, and the adoption of e-commerce and fintech highlight the need for reliable, high-performance connectivity. Globe’s network improvements ensure communities and enterprises have the infrastructure to match this momentum.

Recognized by Ookla as the provider of the “Most Consistent Mobile and Fixed Network” and “Widest 5G Coverage” in the Philippines, Globe has intensified 5G deployment in Cagayan de Oro and Gingoog, while strengthening coverage across coastal and inland municipalities. These upgrades deliver faster speeds, lower latency, and greater network capacity, enabling smoother streaming, high-definition video calls, secure digital payments, cloud-based operations, and real-time business applications. Even areas without new builds now enjoy stable and dependable signal performance.

The upgraded network has already proven critical during events such as the 13th Kuyamis Festival in January 2026, celebrating the province’s 96th founding anniversary, where thousands of attendees enjoyed uninterrupted connectivity. Schools, MSMEs, transport operators, and families are similarly benefiting from improved digital experiences every day.

For enterprises, 5G supports scalable e-commerce, IoT integration, remote monitoring, and data-driven decision-making. In agriculture, healthcare, education, and logistics, enhanced connectivity enables precision tools, telemedicine, digital payments, and smarter operational workflows, boosting efficiency and competitiveness.

“Our sustained investments in Misamis Oriental reflect Globe’s commitment to building infrastructure that empowers communities and drives economic progress,” said Rozy Opina, Senior Director for Territory Business. “Reliable connectivity is foundational to growth, productivity, and inclusion, and we are dedicated to delivering a network that supports the province’s ambitions today and in the years ahead.”

Apart from network upgrades, Globe is also continuously shifting its operations towards using electricity from renewable energy sources and upgrading to more energy-efficient equipment to help improve energy security and reduce carbon emissions. In Cagayan de Oro, key facilities are already running on renewable energy, with on-site solar providing backup power. Across Misamis Oriental, Globe has implemented other green solutions, including equipment modernization and operational optimization, which reduce energy use and carbon emissions without compromising service reliability.

“Mindanao’s development is accelerating, and Globe is committed to ensuring digital infrastructure keeps pace with physical expansion,” added Jowin Marquez, Senior Director, Network Technical Group. “Through continuous network upgrades, expanded 5G access, and green network initiatives, we are enabling families, entrepreneurs, and enterprises to seize opportunities in a rapidly evolving digital economy, while reducing our environmental footprint.”

Residents can maximize the strengthened network through Globe’s mobile offerings, such as GO+99, while TM users can rely on TM EasySURF50 5G for affordable connectivity. These plans support streaming, remote work, online learning, digital entrepreneurship, and everyday communication, helping more communities meaningfully participate in the digital economy.

As Misamis Oriental expands its industrial and economic footprint, Globe remains committed to delivering reliable, high-quality connectivity that drives inclusive growth and long-term progress across the province, while advancing energy-efficient and greener network operations.
