Mapua University has partnered with gaming software provider Capcom Singapore and Prime Manpower to launch a groundbreaking program in games, intellectual property, and digital culture. This strategic collaboration aims to equip Filipino students with industry-relevant skills, bridging the gap between academic theory and real-world experience.
The agreement underscores the partners’ commitment to delivering industry-relevant, globally aligned education and strengthening the Philippines’ role in the rapidly evolving gaming, digital, and intellectual sectors across the ASEAN region.
Under the partnership, Capcom Singapore will provide expertise in curriculum design, specialized modules, lectures, and project-based learning, sharing real-world examples of intellectual property strategy, game business practices, and digital culture. Prime Manpower, on the other hand, will facilitate internships and career opportunities, connecting students with industry professionals. Students will gain hands-on experience, working on real-world projects and internships, preparing them for careers in the gaming sector.
The program is designed to address the increasing demand for professionals who possess not only technical and creative skills, but also a strong understanding of IP development, management, and commercialization within the global digital economy. This will ensure that Filipino creators are no longer just consumers of global media but are actual architects behind it.
“Today’s MOU signing represents a bold leap into the future of Philippine creative economy. By aligning Mapúa’s century-long academic excellence with Capcom’s expertise and mastery of global hits, and Prime Manpower’s access to vast opportunities and direct pathways to the worldwide economy, we will definitely be providing students with an unprecedented competitive edge, according to Dodjie S. Maestrecampo, president and CEO at Mapua University, adding that, “Here at Mapúa, we are not just training students for jobs; we are empowering Filipino innovators to own their craft and lead the digital culture and IP revolution across the globe.”
This collaboration does not only expect to boost the country’s gaming and digital content industries but also reinforces Mapúa University’s status as a premier institution for technology and innovation. As the university enters its second century, it continues to pioneer educational models that turn Filipino creativity into a formidable force in the global digital economy.
