PLDT Inc. and its wireless subsidiary Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) have been recognized by the Safety Organization of the Philippines (SOPI) for outstanding achievements in workplace safety and employee well-being.
The recognition was conferred during SOPI’s National Industrial Safety Conference and Annual Assembly, held under the theme “Achieving Excellence on OSH Resiliency and Sustainability.”
SOPI presented PLDT and Smart with the Presidential Award for Safety Man Hours, along with Safety Milestone Awards and Outstanding OSH Practitioner Awards, in recognition of the group’s achievement of 20 million safe man hours and its efforts to strengthen a proactive safety culture across various offices nationwide. These distinctions highlight the group’s long-standing focus on advancing Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) through effective policies, rigorous standards, and employee-centered programs.
Leonardo Gonzalez, Vice President for Property and Facilities Management, congratulated the teams behind the achievement. “This achievement speaks volumes about commitment to safety excellence and the strong stewardship shown across our EHS initiatives.” He also highlighted the steady push “to institutionalize a culture of safety within PLDT and Smart. These milestones — from safe man-hour recognitions across multiple sites to this individual accolade — reaffirm the impact of our discipline, collaboration, and passion for protecting our people and our workplaces.”
