HP achieves EPEAT 2.0 Gold and Climate+ designations

As a business imperative, Sustainable Impact is said to be the foundational guiding everything the company does and shaping its portfolio-wide offerings for the AI era.

The world is navigating unprecedented challenges from climate volatility to resource constraints. That’s why HP’s commitment to advancing the future of work is intertwined with sustainability-enhanced technology that empowers customers’ lives, work, and world. As a business imperative, Sustainable Impact is said to be the foundational guiding everything the company does and shaping its portfolio-wide offerings for the AI era.

Today, the Global Electronics Council (GEC) announced the launch of EPEAT 2.0, the next generation of its trusted global ecolabel for sustainable electronics. GEC has recognized HP as an EPEAT 2.0 Launch Partner. HP also retained the EPEAT Climate+ designation for Computers, Displays, Multifunction Printers, and Printers – demonstrating its industry leadership in sustainability.

“With EPEAT 2.0, we’re entering a new era of sustainability leadership in electronics,” said Bob Mitchell, Chief Executive Officer, Global Electronics Council. “As EPEAT 2.0 launch partners, companies like HP play a vital role in driving the industry towards responsible global impacts, and we appreciate their leadership and hard work throughout this transition.”

EPEAT 2.0 is a significant evolution of the most comprehensive rating system for advancing responsible electronics in the marketplace, which was originally established in 2006. The new iteration of this ecolabel represents deepening impact across supply chains, strengthening environmental and social performance, and setting a higher standard for transparency and accountability across the electronics industry. EPEAT 2.0 is designed to identify the most sustainable products, built by sustainability-conscious manufacturers with responsibly managed supply chains.

The new criteria represent a new era of sustainable innovation in technology, where EPEAT-registered products deliver HP customers measurable benefits, extend impact across the supply chain, and address complex sustainability challenges. Critical impact areas include:

  • Climate change mitigation
  • Chemicals of concern
  • Circularity and sustainable use of resources
  • Responsible supply chains
  • Consumables (Imaging Equipment)

Through an ongoing independent third-party verification process, the EPEAT label is a credible resource for procurement leaders seeking a smart way to evaluate products that offer real sustainability benefits.

A key product improvement is the increased use of more sustainable materials., this includes the use of PFAS-free alternatives, and more recycled and responsibly-sourced content. Users can experience this firsthand through components like recycled metals in the PC chassis or recycled plastics in the keyboard and printer enclosures. For a longer lifespan, we build our products to be durable, while ensuring any components exposed to prolonged skin contact remain free of irritants and skin sensitizers. Our designs are now more serviceable and repairable than ever. These updates underscore our unwavering dedication to safer materials, waste reduction, and circular design.

EPEAT 2.0 deepens supplier engagement on responsible minerals sourcing practices and strengthens reporting transparency on supply chain social responsibility.
