DTI teams up with FedEx to equip Filipino textile MSMEs for international growth

Over the years, FedEx has collaborated with DTI to enable Filipino businesses to seize global trade opportunities. This latest initiative represents another milestone in FedEx mission to empower MSMEs and foster inclusive economic growth.

Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, collaborated with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to deliver the FedEx Masterclass for Philippine textile Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), equipping them with the knowledge and tools to expand their global footprint.

The learning series was attended by 33 MSME businesses. The sessions leveraged the global logistics expertise of FedEx, covering import and export fundamentals, including creating air waybills, document requirements, proper packing of textile shipments, and shipment tracking.

In 2024, the Philippines exported USD 892 million worth of textiles, ranking it 13th among the country’s 22 export categories, with key destinations including the United States, Japan, China, South Korea, and the United Kingdom. In the same year, the country imported USD 2.18 billion worth of textiles, also ranking 13th among Philippine imports, sourced primarily from China, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.

“Our collaboration with DTI amplifies our ability to support Filipino businesses,” said Maribeth Espinosa, managing director, FedEx Philippines. “By sharing our logistics expertise and global network, we make international trade simpler and more accessible. This goes beyond delivering shipments, it is about opening avenues, nurturing ambitions, and ensuring that even the smallest businesses have the opportunity to grow beyond borders. We are committed to turning the promise of global trade into meaningful progress for Filipino MSMEs across the country.”
