Vietnam’s THACO AUTO announces distribution partnership with BJ Mercantile

Under the Memorandum of Understanding, BJM will become the official sales, service, and parts distributor of THACO trucks and buses in the Philippines.

BJ Mercantile, Inc. (BJM), a local distributor of trucks and buses, and THACO AUTO, a Vietnam-based manufacturer and distributor of automotive products, formed a strategic partnership to be able to deliver value to Filipino customers through better quality products and services.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding, BJM will become the official sales, service, and parts distributor of THACO trucks and buses in the Philippines.

“We are honored to partner with THACO and are excited to offer their high-quality trucks and buses to the Philippine market,” said Leilani Lim Tan, vice president at BJM. This collaboration aligns with our commitment to provide innovative, cost-effective, and reliable transport solutions to support the growth of Filipino businesses.”

Doan Dat Ninh, vice president at THACO AUTO, said the bus distribution agreement between BJM and THACO AUTO serves as a foundation for their strategic cooperation, while working in THACO’s international market expansion strategy, and contributing to the development of a safe and modern public transportation system in the Philippines.

The partnership increases BJM’s presence in the commercial vehicle sector by offering more choices to its customers. Aside from THACO, other brands that BJM distributes include Scania, Ashok-Leyland, Fuso, and Hongqi.

THACO forged a partnership with BJM because according to Doan Dat Ninh, “the Philippines is a potential market. We believe our products and services can meet the requirements of the Philippine market.”

Tan said, “For the bus side, THACO has to make sure they develop the right products for our market. For the truck side, they have truck models being developed and what we will do is just push these into the market.” She also mentioned that they will supply the correct specifications for the local market.

THACO trucks and buses are a perfect match for the Philippines’ growing logistics, construction, and transport sectors as they are designed for tropical climates and heavy-duty use.
