Fatima University Medical Center (FUMC) Antipolo, an eye care service provider, launched the ZEISS SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction) Pro Correction procedure, an advanced, minimally invasive and flapless laser vision treatment technology designed to treat refractive errors like myopia or nearsightedness, as well as astigmatism. This latest eye laser technology will be integrated into its Eye Laser Center offerings.

The unveiling of the new advanced laser eye procedure serves as a significant milestone for FUMC as it brings together their medical expertise and state-of-the-art technology to deliver world-class eye care. SMILE Pro procedure offers accessible, high quality, safer, and minimally invasive vision correction.

The procedure is performed using the ZEISS Visumax 800 laser technology, which takes 10 seconds (per eye) to complete. The laser technology creates minor incision, as well as lenticule or a small contact lens-shaped layer just beneath the eye. This layer is then removed through the incision, reshaping the eye and correcting the vision.

After the treatment, the patient can ensure precise correction of refractive errors, resulting in improved vision. Most patients can return to their normal activities within a short period, and the flapless procedure reduces the risk of flap-related complications such as dry eye and flap displacement.

“Our integration of ZEISS SMILE pro underscores our dedication to pioneering the future of laser vision correction in the Philippines, providing Filipinos with the latest technology available, complemented by our caring and professional medical experts and staff,” stated Dr. Vicente
