PLDT Inc. and Smart Communications, Inc. supported West Visayas State University’s (WVSU) development and launching of “Tuon Ta,” an innovative app designed to preserve and promote the Hiligaynon language.
This university-led initiative showcases the exceptional talent and dedication of WVSU students from education, IT, and communication departments, demonstrating how their interdisciplinary collaboration has created a meaningful educational tool that makes language learning both accessible and engaging.
Dr. Ma. Asuncion Christine Dequilla, vice president for academic affairs at West Visayas State University, emphasized the collaborative nature of the project while acknowledging their telco partner, PLDT and Smart. “This achievement would not have been made possible without the generous support of PLDT and Smart. Their commitment to educational innovation continues to inspire us. Our partnership has been invaluable in transforming ideas into tangible tools that will touch the lives of many learners.”
The Tuon Ta app marks the 11th mother-tongue based application developed under PLDT and Smart’s LearnSmart advocacy, encouraging the use of digital technology to enhance learning.
