Shortlisted in three categories at the upcoming World Communication Awards, the nominations underscore the group’s significant strides in driving digital transformation and creating meaningful impact in the lives of Filipinos.

PLDT and Smart have once again gained global recognition for their industry-leading initiatives. Shortlisted in three categories at the upcoming World Communication Awards, the nominations underscore the group’s significant strides in driving digital transformation and creating meaningful impact in the lives of Filipinos.

The companies are in the running for Best Operator in a Growth Market, a category that highlights the critical role of PLDT and Smart in expanding digital services across the Philippines. PLDT Group’s efforts to bridge the digital divide have helped connect underserved communities, ensuring that more Filipinos have access to digital tools and services.

The Group was also nominated under the Beyond Connectivity Award category for its Building Filipino #MSMEmpowered and #FarmSmart Communities through Technology initiative. This program focuses on empowering the agricultural sector and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by providing digital tools that enhance productivity and growth. By leveraging technology to support farmers and small businesses, PLDT and Smart are not only fostering economic development, but also enabling communities to thrive in the digital economy.

Under the Social Contribution Award category, PLDT and Smart’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Advocacy through Technology (IDEATe) program has been recognized for its work in promoting digital inclusion. IDEATe aims to create a more equitable digital landscape where all Filipinos, regardless of age, gender, religion, physical and mental ability, can benefit from technology.

Now on its 26th year, the World Communication Awards, which celebrate excellence in the global telecommunications industry, will take place on the 10th of December, 2024 at the Marriott, Grosvenor Square in London. The event recognizes the most innovative and impactful achievements in the sector from around the world.
