PLDT Home elevates fiber experience

The Gigabit Fiber plans, which offer Internet access speeds of up to 10,000 megabits per second or 10 gigabits per second, will be bunded with premium video content, top-of-the-line devices, exclusive perks and rewards, and total Internet security provided by Kaspersky.

PLDT Home, the largest fiber-to-the-home service provider in the country, will elevate customers’ fiber experience when it launches in March the fastest broadband plans in the Philippines called Gigabit Fiber plans.

The Gigabit Fiber plans, which offer Internet access speeds of up to 10,000 megabits per second or 10 gigabits per second, will be bunded with premium video content, top-of-the-line devices, exclusive perks and rewards, and total Internet security provided by Kaspersky.

“The Gigabit Fiber plans will initially allow a select group of customers to experience first-world level connectivity. But that will soon change with PLDT’s investment in new technology and network upgrade,” said Jeremiah de la Cruz, PLDT senior vice president and head of customer business and PLDT Home.

Gigabit Plans offer Internet connectivity of between 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps, with the top speed putting the Philippines on par with first world countries such as the US, South Korea and Norway.

“PLDT will roll out XGS-PON to facilitate ultrafast Gigabit Fiber plans so that every Filipino home could experience first-world Internet access,” said de la Cruz.

XGS-PON is an updated standard for Passive Optical Network that can support 10 Gbps of symemetrical data transfer. Simply, the technology allows fiber lines to deliver data at gigabit speeds to the home. At speeds of 10 Gbps, a 20 GB, 4K video recording could be downloaded within seconds, not tens of minutes.

“PLDT is pushing the boundaries of innovation in the Philippines to accelerate the country’s digital transformation and quickly bridge the digital gap among customers, particularly large enterprises and start-up ventures,” de la Cruz said.

As PLDT widens its network footprint and invests more in new technology, de la Cruz expects the cost of ultrafast broadband services to ease further and make it available to a wider market.

Gigabit Plans offer speeds of 1 Gbps, 2.5 Gbps, 5 Gbps and 10 Gbps.

A 10 Gbps connection can accommodate multiple users using several devices that are engaged high bandwidth internet activities simultaneously such as video streaming, high-resolution video conferencing, lag-free gaming, remote video and monitoring and archiving.
