PLDT maintains ISO certifications on world-class cable landing stations

Among sites that recently renewed ISO 22301:2019 is PLDT’s landing station in Daet, Camarines Norte that serves the Jupiter Cable System, the Philippines’ fastest direct data cable link to the United States and Japan.

PLDT Inc. (PLDT) continues to receive certifications on Business Continuity Management System (ISO 22301:2019) for its cable landing stations, fortifying its network resiliency and capacity to deliver uninterrupted services to customers.

Among sites that recently renewed ISO 22301:2019 is PLDT’s landing station in Daet, Camarines Norte that serves the Jupiter Cable System, the Philippines’ fastest direct data cable link to the United States and Japan.

“Our internationally certified world-class facilities enable PLDT to support the country’s ambition to become the hyperscaler hub of the region,” according to Atty. Oliver Carlos G. Odulio, Head of Enterprise Business Continuity and Resilience Office (BCRO) at PLDT and its wireless subsidiary Smart Communications, Inc.

Cable landing stations and international subsea cable systems serve the extensive data requirements of hyperscalers, or large cloud service providers. Aside from its cable landing station in Daet, PLDT also renewed ISO certifications for its cable landing stations in La Union and Batangas. PLDT and Smart received a total of 22 certifications, including four new ones.

As part of the certification process, PLDT also recently completed external audit in August by TUV Rheinland Cert GmbH, accredited internationally by Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle (DAkkS).

Now on its 8th year of ISO certification this 2023, PLDT’s BCRO leads the pursuit of these quality standardization measures to support the company’s thrust for resiliency, industry-leading operational excellence, and enhanced stakeholder confidence.

“In addition to signifying that we are capable to continue operations amid emergencies, disasters and climate-related risks, these certifications also ensure that our critical network facilities, such as these cable landing stations, meet international standards and allow us to serve even the most stringent requirements of our Enterprise clients,” said Odulio.

To facilitate and ensure world-class customer experience through reliable and resilient operations, PLDT established a pervasive resiliency framework through ISO 22301:2019, which enables the company to consistently prevent, minimize, and recover from disruptive incidents while mitigating financial and reputational impact across its critical facilities and operations nationwide.

These initiatives align with PLDT’s commitment to level up customer experience and reinforce PLDT’s support for the Philippine government’s overall digitalization thrust as one of the founding members of the government-mandated Presidential Private Sector Advisory Council under the Digital Infrastructure Pillar.
