Eastern Communications continues to ramp up hyperscale efforts

Eastern aims to provide connectivity solutions to Digital Edge’s data center clients and ramp up its hyperscale initiatives and data center services by colocating at NARRA1.

In today’s digital age, our daily activities rely on interconnected online systems, with data centers serving as the backbone of our digital economy and society. To address the growing demand for digital infrastructure in the Philippines, premier telecommunications and ICT solutions company Eastern Communications recently inked a partnership with Singapore-based data center platform company, Digital Edge. Eastern aims to provide connectivity solutions to Digital Edge’s data center clients and ramp up its hyperscale initiatives and data center services by colocating at NARRA1.

Data centers are becoming a priority for the Philippines as the nation actively expands its internet infrastructure. Additionally, the increasing shift of businesses online and the rising trend of cloud computing demands safe and secure data storage, in which data centers play a crucial role.

NARRA1, the Philippines’ most energy-efficient data center and one of Asia’s most advanced facilities, offers clients access to high-performance, next-generation digital infrastructure that does not compromise on sustainability principles. With 2,200 cabinets and 10MW of IT power, it meets the latest demands from cloud, network, digital media, and enterprise customers in power, reliability, security, and sustainability.

Located in the Greater Manila region at Laguna Technopark, NARRA1 is well situated to benefit companies in the nearby Central Business Districts (CBDs) and offers much-needed colocation capacity and interconnection agility to support the ongoing digital transformation of the local economy.

Eastern Communications Vice President and Head of Sales Mike Castañeda said that Eastern fully commits to the vision of transforming the digital infrastructure in the Philippines and continues to innovate and forge strategic partnerships to mount these progressive changes through their hyperscale efforts.

“Our recent partnership with Digital Edge is aligned with our strategic plan to expand hyperscale data center services to Philippine businesses. This collaboration allows us to provide robust connectivity solutions at NARRA1 and gradually improve our overall data center capabilities to meet both local and global market demands,” said Castañeda.

Likewise, Digital Edge Philippines General Manager, Vic Barrios, expressed support for the vision of Eastern Communications and valued its partnership that benefits both the company and their clients.

“We are delighted to partner with Eastern to bring greater connectivity options to our cloud and enterprise colocation customers. As the largest carrier-neutral data center operator in the Philippines, partnerships like this one are vital for building a diverse digital ecosystem that enables our customers to thrive. We look forward to working with Eastern to provide a range of interconnection solutions at our NARRA1 facility that will further enhance Manila’s critical digital infrastructure,” said Barrios.
