Epson launches #MakeTheSwitch Campaign

The global digital campaign will focus on raising awareness about the importance of energy conservation and how big an impact individual efforts can make as a collective movement.

As part of its goal to achieve sustainability by driving transformative change in the way things are done, global technology leader Epson launched its #MakeTheSwitch campaign to encourage people around the world to turn to energy-saving activities. The global digital campaign will focus on raising awareness about the importance of energy conservation and how big an impact individual efforts can make as a collective movement.

Featuring various tips on how to reduce energy consumption such as using LED bulbs, taking public transportation, and making heat-free meals at home, Epson leverages the digital space to suggest a series of energy-saving activities.

The #MakeTheSwitch campaign is part of the company’s broader commitment to sustainability. With Epson’s Environmental Vision 2050, the technology giant has set goals of becoming a carbon-negative and underground resource-free organization by 2050, which means eliminating the use of non-renewable resources such as oil and metals in its operations.

Epson is working to achieve these goals through a variety of initiatives, including developing more energy-efficient products, reducing waste, and improving energy efficiency in its manufacturing facilities. Epson believes that everyone has a role to play in protecting the environment, and the #MakeTheSwitch campaign is a call to action for people around the world to make a difference.

“Through the #MakeTheSwitch movement, we are encouraging everyone to make small changes in their daily lives that can have a big impact on the planet,” said Masako Kusama, President and Director of Epson Philippines.

Switching to Heat-Free Technology

According to the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions, 31% of greenhouse gas emissions come from electricity and heat. One of the many ways energy can be conserved is by using energy-saving appliances at home and at work. For printing needs, switching to Epson’s energy-efficient inkjet printers with heat-free technology lowers power consumption, allowing users to reduce their environmental impact.

Heat-Free Technology is a unique Epson technology that eliminates the need for a heating element in its ink ejection process, resulting to less energy used in the process. Compared to laser printers that typically have more consumables and require periodic replacement of parts, Epson’s inkjet printers have lower environmental impact as they use fewer parts that need replacing, thanks to Epson’s Heat-Free Technology.

“There are several ways we can reduce our energy consumption and save the environment,” Kusama said. “For Epson, we aim to realize a sustainable future by driving technological advances based on our philosophy of efficient, compact, and precise innovation.”
