Converge CEO Dennis Anthony Uy stresses value of education, donates 3-hectare land in Pampanga

Converge ICT Solutions Inc. CEO and Co-Founder Dennis Anthony Uy has donated three hectares of land to his alma mater Chevalier School in Angeles City, Pampanga, underscoring the value of education just like what his late father used to advocate for.

Giving back to the institution that honed him to become the successful businessman he is today, Converge ICT Solutions Inc. CEO and Co-Founder Dennis Anthony Uy has donated three hectares of land to his alma mater Chevalier School in Angeles City, Pampanga, underscoring the value of education just like what his late father used to advocate for.

“Chevalier, and of course my father, taught me what true service is all about. It is devoting time, resources, and energy to improve the lives of others. This is why I am donating a 3-hectare property in Angeles for the use of Chevalier School Inc. This school will be located within the grounds of the Tech City, and will be named in honor of my father, Chun Ching Wong Uy,” said the Converge CEO in his acceptance speech during the Chevalier awarding ceremony.

Uy has been recognized as Chevalier’s Outstanding Alumnus for making significant contributions, not only for the good of the community but the whole country at large, and for his achievements that help bring distinction to his former school.

Uy thanked the institution and has attributed his successes in business and in life to the teachings brought to him by the Angeles-based high school.

“It was this school that taught me the value of serving others. Something that my father, who recently passed, also taught me. My father also valued education and he thought highly of the Chevalier School,” the Converge Co-Founder recalled.

The three-hectare property where the new Chevalier campus will rise is located within the Tech City that Uy is building in Pampanga and envisioned to be a Philippine Silicon Valley – with innovator labs and incubator hubs which will serve as breeding ground for the country’s next generation of tech entrepreneurs.

“I have many fond memories in Chevalier School. I grew up in this school and spent a lot of time here. It was this school that helped shape me into who I am. I owe a lot to the Chevalier School for the building of my character,” Uy shared.

Uy said that just like what his late father taught him, being of service to others is what Converge is all about. Currently, Converge serves the connectivity needs of nearly 2 million Filipino homes, with coverage reaching nearly 13.5 million households.

“And next year, we are bound to bring more unconnected Filipinos, in far-flung communities, into the fold,” Uy furthered.

Converge has been supporting the education sector as schools innovate and strengthen their delivery of education. In 2021, the company, together with its affiliate Pacific Kable Net, partnered with the Department of Education (DepEd) to provide connectivity access to public schools and DepEd offices.

Likewise, Converge has also been enhancing the online education capabilities of the sector and aiding the promotion of digital inclusion among Filipino students.
