TaskUs, City of Imus ink deal to provide skills training opportunities

Under the partnership called “Career Forward: An Imuseño’s Journey to Being Ridiculously Good,” TaskUs will provide locals with fundamental skills training for a sustainable career in outsourcing.

TaskUs, a provider of outsourced digital services and next-generation customer experience to fast-growing technology companies, has entered into a partnership with the local government of Imus, Cavite that will boost the job readiness of Caviteños.

Under the partnership called “Career Forward: An Imuseño’s Journey to Being Ridiculously Good,” TaskUs will provide locals with fundamental skills training for a sustainable career in outsourcing.

The partnership was formalized during a signing ceremony between the Imus City Government represented by Mayor Alex Advincula and City Administrator Jeffrey Purisima, and TaskUs led by Division Vice President of Operations Arjay Angodung and Vice President of Operations and Lizzy’s Nook Site Lead Cris Monroy.

“TaskUs has always been a valuable employer in Imus. We are excited to enter into this partnership to fulfill the City’s long-term goal of providing jobs and sustainable careers to our residents,” says Mayor Alex Advincula.

“TaskUs remains committed to providing relevant skills training for those who want to create meaningful careers in outsourcing,” notes Dean Van Ormer, TaskUs’ Senior Vice President of Operations and Head of Southeast Asia Region. “This commitment has already benefited thousands of our teammates. And we want to ensure that the immediate communities we serve are able to take advantage of our training opportunities.”

An initial 150 students from Imus Vocational Technical School are expected to participate in the project’s pilot run. TaskUs will provide them with language assessments, communication skills training, customer handling, and employee wellness, among others.

The local government of Imus, on the other hand, will provide training rooms, food, and allowances for the students.

After the training, students will be assessed for potential job placements at TaskUs, which has a site in Imus, Cavite (Lizzy’s Nook), and an upcoming one in the nearby city of Bacoor, Cavite.

“Together with the local government, we put our people front and center–and this means planning our business around them. In Lizzy’s Nook’s case, the biggest percentage of our population is from Imus. And this is more than enough reason for us to support by bringing opportunities closer to where our teammates live,” says Cris Monroy, Vice President of Operations at TaskUs Lizzy’s Nook.

TaskUs started its roots in the Province of Cavite where it opened its very first office in Bacoor in 2008. Since then, TaskUs has grown its outsourcing operations in other countries worldwide.

Career Forward is an effort by the local government of Imus with TaskUs to prepare Imuseños for professional careers. The local government of Imus is also planning to construct an IT hub, which would open more doors to local job seekers.
