Converge dubbed ‘fiber’ fan favorite of Cebu-based mobile app, software developers

Pure fiber broadband doesn’t just allow Increment Technologies to carry out its services to its global clients; it also allows the company to innovate and create its own products such as PayHiram.

In the IT world, there is no debate that’s more intense than the battle of the operating systems (OS) – Macintosh vs. Windows. Loyalists of the two brands boast about their respective strengths – Windows is said to be the best in gaming while Mac is a favorite of programmers and designers. In internet services, pure fiber broadband operator Converge is in a similar competition, and it has emerged as a provider of choice by small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the IT sector.

Take the case of Increment Technologies Inc., an up and coming software and mobile app development firm based in Cebu. For its considerable requirements – hosting, source code uploading, and downloading huge amounts of data – Converge meets its needs and then some.

“Every time we have codes in the local environment, we push that to the live servers we have installed in the repositories so that it can be easily accessed by other developers. In terms of deployment of the system (which is on the server side), we require good internet with no interruption considering that we push a lot of codes and huge amounts of data,” noted Kenneth Canales, President and CEO of Increment Technologies.

Increment Technologies Inc. is a web and mobile development services company that services clients locally and from the US, Europe and Asia. As a local tech start-up, Increment sees many opportunities arising from the pandemic as more companies embraced digitalization and are now creating their own applications. Canales and his team are able to seize these opportunities, thanks to the reliable connectivity provided by Converge for his business.

“There are a lot of opportunities in the technology space today, especially for software development. We are fortunate to be a Philippine company providing that service for clients all over the world. Because of the demand, we were able to hire employees and provide jobs amid the pandemic,” shared Canales.

Pure fiber broadband doesn’t just allow Increment Technologies to carry out its services to its global clients; it also allows the company to innovate and create its own products such as PayHiram.

PayHiram, a financial service mobile app acts as a virtual wallet and caters to OFWs regularly sending remittances to their family in the Philippines. PayHiram’s services include money transfer, local and international remittance, withdrawals, and payments.

Increment also pitched in the pandemic effort in 2020, when it executed a project with the local government in its contact tracing efforts. It developed the BirdsEye app, locally available in Cebu. Birds Eye allowed location matching and mapping, transportation tracing, transportation management, and patient recording – all critical functions in contactless living during the pandemic.

In these projects, stable and strong internet connectivity was of utmost importance, particularly during app demonstrations.

“We have constant communications with our local and global clients. Dapat talaga you need a reliable connection so there are no interruptions during your discussions, presenting the application and doing the demonstrations.  When we demo our projects to the client, we need to be sure that there are no interruptions. Especially when we have investment presentations with PayHiram, we need to make sure all of our connections are good and Converge provides that one,” Mr. Canales added.
