Superior customer experience from expansive fiber network drives 1Q service revenue – PLDT Home

Through significantly faster installation capability and unparalleled network quality, the sustained rollout of an already expansive network bolstered PLDT Home’s first quarter fiber-only service revenues by 74% on year, or by ₱4.7 billion, to a record high ₱11.1 billion. Including other businesses, total Home service revenues increased 25% on-year or by ₱2.7 billion to an all-time high ₱13.6 billion.

An expansive fiber network that consistently meets the demands of customers for fast and reliable internet connection at home has driven the growth of the Philippines’ largest and fully integrated telco network company PLDT Inc. (PLDT).

“The pandemic has ushered in the digital transformation of our ways of working and living. Although restrictions have eased, many employees and students still work and study at home, whether full-time or in a hybrid setup. We see that home broadband remains essential to our consumers’ lifestyle as we continue to navigate the next normal with fiber being preferred due to the speed and superior data experience it offers,” said Jeremiah de la Cruz, Senior Vice President and Head of Consumer Business – Home at PLDT.

Through significantly faster installation capability and unparalleled network quality, the sustained rollout of an already expansive network bolstered PLDT Home’s first quarter fiber-only service revenues by 74% on year, or by ₱4.7 billion, to a record high ₱11.1 billion. Fiber-only revenues now account for 82% of total Home revenues, up from 59% from a year ago.

“With our customers as our north star, PLDT Home’s future-ready innovations, including top-of-the-line Smart Home solutions such as Wifi Mesh devices, entertainment, and security services bundled with its flexible broadband plans, continue to set the bar for home internet connectivity in the country,” de la Cruz added.

PLDT’s nationwide presence is unrivalled. Among the new places reached by PLDT’s fiber rollout is Bontoc, Mountain Province, where residents can finally enjoy fiber connectivity with PLDT Home becoming the first fiber provider in the upland municipality.

As the center of trade, commerce, and education in Mountain Province, Bontoc is key to the province’s development and economic growth. The fiber rollout in Mountain Province is part of PLDT’s long-term commitment to reach the farthest areas and connect every household in the country through its fastest and widest fiber internet. Now powering 16 barangays in Bontoc, PLDT Home enables residents with digital tools to enable work, business, or learning from home.

PLDT Home has remained the undisputed fastest broadband network in the Philippines, outpacing telco rivals with a Speed Score™ of 77.24 at the Ookla® Speedtest Awards™ for Q3-Q4 2021.

PLDT also consistently leads the Ookla® Speedtest Awards™ in the past four years as a result of the telco giant’s aggressive network expansion initiatives. In the second half of 2021, PLDT Home launched its biggest speed upgrade for customers with thrice as much speeds versus the previous broadband plans.

In November 2021, PLDT Home launched the country’s first-ever 10,000 Mbps fiber-optic service in the Philippines, putting the country alongside first-world nations that have access to such ultra-fast home internet speeds such as South Korea, Japan, Sweden, Norway, Italy, New Zealand, and USA.

To date, PLDT Home has connected over 3.1 million fixed broadband homes – of which 2.6 million are fiber subscribers — proving to be the most trusted telco of Filipino families for fast internet speeds for work at home, online school, and family entertainment at home amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
