Two out of three MNP requests are for switching to Smart

Smart noted that two out of three MNP requests it had processed during the period were for porting into its network, with mobile users citing a better network experience as their primary consideration.

PLDT Inc. mobile services arm Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) has seen more users switching to its network during the first 10 days of the implementation of Mobile Number Portability (MNP). Launched last Sept. 30, MNP enables Filipino mobile users to switch to another mobile service provider without having to change their mobile number, a service meant to give customers greater freedom and flexibility.

Smart noted that two out of three MNP requests it had processed during the period were for porting into its network, with mobile users citing a better network experience as their primary consideration.

One such customer is 39-year-old Jennifer Euperio, an aspiring vlogger from Tarlac who recently switched to Smart via MNP. “I specifically opted for Smart because of its network reliability in my area,” she said.

Yves Mantos, a 35-year-old entrepreneur from Quezon City, is also a happy switcher to Smart. “Sometime last year, I bought a Smart Prepaid SIM to test its coverage, and my positive experience influenced me to make my switch official,” he said.

Meanwhile, Paul Matthew Lacson upgraded his prepaid subscription from another mobile provider to a Smart Postpaid Plan and, in the process, switched his father as well. “Smart’s promos and offers are truly one-of-a-kind, and its unique postpaid deals simply sealed the deal for me,” he said.

“As our times continue to hasten digital adoption, we’re seeing that many customers have become more discerning and are making the Smart move. Seeing that more subscribers prefer Smart inspires us to strive harder when it comes to providing Filipinos with the best mobile experience,” said Jane J. Basas, SVP and Head of Consumer Wireless Business at Smart.

With its continuous network improvements and expansion, Smart is in the best position to support the MNP initiative and cater to the rising number of Filipino mobile data users. As of June 2021, Smart has 39.5 million mobile data users – the highest in the country.

Ookla, the global leader in internet testing and analysis, has also recognized Smart as the Philippines’ fastest and most reliable 5G network for Q1-Q2 2021, with median download and upload speeds that are twice faster than its closest rival. Ookla has also cited Smart as the fastest mobile data network in the Philippines for the fourth consecutive year.

As the country’s 5G leader and pioneer, Smart has also fired up over 4,400 5G sites in more than 4,000 locations nationwide – the widest 5G network in the country.

On top of its award-winning network, Smart also continues to provide subscribers with innovative offers to cater to their digital needs. It recently launched the Smart Signature Plans+, the country’s first postpaid plans that offers Unlimited 5G along with Unlimited Calls & Texts to All Networks, Unlimited Landline Calls to All Networks, and a 12-month Netflix Mobile Plan subscription for Unlimited Entertainment.

Moreover, Smart recently unveiled Unli GIGA Video and Unli GIGA Stories, which provide Prepaid subscribers with non-stop access to their favorite video or social media apps plus open-access data for as low as Php75, valid for three days.

Smart also enables subscribers to manage their digital lifestyle conveniently with the GigaLife App, a one-stop super app that enables customers to check their account details, keep track of their data usage, access the most comprehensive list of data offers. Through the app, subscribers can also buy promos conveniently using the in-app payment feature GigaPay and earn accumulate GigaPoints that may be used to redeem exclusive rewards and lifestyle perks.
