So the warmer months are finally here, and after months of lockdown, the UK is starting to open up as some of our comforts return amid the backdrop of our ‘new normal’.

Chances are you’ve got very familiar with your home so far this year, so getting away will be crucial for a bit of a change – which is often as good as a rest, as the old saying goes.

The much-discussed ‘air bridges’ have opened up some travel overseas, but many are opting for a staycation instead, after all there are so many amazing destinations right on our doorstep!

Fix up the wardrobe

All that leisurewear you bought in lockdown can come back out in the winter months, now is the time for short-sleeve shirts for the fellas and light linen women’s trousers to keep things cool and sophisticated.

If you are holidaying at home, don’t forget you probably will need to bear the odd shower in mind too.

Fall in love with home again

Have you had the chance to truly appreciate where you live in recent months? If not find a local park, some nature trails near you, or other cultural significances.

Being a tourist at home will show you a side of your local spot that you’ve probably never seen before and might give you something to add to the regular routine.

Stock up on the essentials

Save the gags, you will need some sun cream at some point! Especially if you’re taking a break at the coast or on a walking holiday. Hay fever medication is an essential for so many of us at this time of year, too.

If you are heading to the beach, don’t forget to spare a thought for your hair. All that sun and seawater can leave your locks in a sorry state, so make sure it’s strengthened beforehand and you will be good to go.

Get down and detox
