Huawei AR502H — a next-generation edge computing IoT gateway — stands out with its open edge computing architecture, flexible scalability, industry-leading AI computing power, and extensive IoT interfaces (including IP-based PLC and 5G uplink), helping to establish the best practices in the industrial IoT field.

Huawei AR502H won its first Best of Show Award Grand Prize in the IoT category at Interop Tokyo 2020, the largest ICT exhibition in Japan.

In the IoT era, as a result of ongoing digital transformation in a wide range of industries, more data needs to be processed at the network edge. However, it is difficult to connect a large number of terminals, manage devices, and analyze data. Additionally, security, real-time performance, and reliability of locally processed service data become increasingly important, which present immense challenges to edge IoT network construction. It achieves this with the following three main differentiators:

  •  Open architecture: AR502H uses an edge computing architecture and open software and hardware resources, and supports standard development environments and multi-container management, enabling on-demand deployment of service apps. It also uses innovative technologies such as partition backup and disk encryption to ensure service data security.
  •  High computing performance: AR502H can be flexibly equipped with AI peripherals and achieve a computing power of up to 16 Tera Operations Per Second (TOPS). It supports mainstream AI frameworks such as TensorFlow and Caffe to implement local data analysis and mining, greatly improving the computing power for intelligent analysis at the edge.
  •  Extensive interfaces: AR502H supports 4G/5G uplinks and innovative IP-based power line communication (PLC), and integrates traditional industrial serial ports such as RS232, RS485, and DI/DO. This interface-rich router is ideal for electric power and transportation sectors where a large number of devices need to be plug and play and centrally managed.
