In a formal key turnover ceremony held recently, Hino Motors Philippines (HMP), exclusive distributor of Hino trucks and buses in the Philippines, gave initial Class II, 4-wheeler AC modern jeepney units to the Pateros-Fort Bonifacio Transport Service and Multi-Purpose Cooperative (TSMC) and Taguig Transport Service Cooperative (TSC).

Hino is ready and able to answer the call of the government’s PUV Modernization Program (PUVMP) by providing sustainable modern Euro 4-powered jeepneys. Consistent with the Department of Transportation and Land Transportation Franchising & Regulatory Board together with Office of Transportation Cooperatives theme, “Arangkada sa Pagbabago,” Hino works hand in hand with different stakeholders to speed up the modernization of the country’s transport system. Its modern jeepneys deliver a more efficient engine while adopting green technology to reduce harm to the environment.

The Pateros-Fort Bonifacio TSMC and Taguig TSC are among the three preselected cooperatives first to adopt the PUVMP. The cooperatives were selected by the OTC for their good standing, financial capability and established management structure. The Pateros-Fort Bonifacio TSMC will receive 137 Hino modern jeepney units while the Taguig TSC will get 279 units. The approved routes include Gate III of Fort Bonifacio to Guadalupe Market and Bagumbayan, Taguig to Pasig.

Present during the ceremony were DOTr Secretary Hon. Arthur Tugade, DOTr Usec. Thomas Orbos, LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra III, OTC Chairman Emmanuel Virtucio, Taguig City Mayor Lani Lopez Cayetano and  Makati City Mayor Mar-Len Abigail Binay-Campos. Pateros-Fort Bonifacio TSMPC Chairman Nonito P. Sinamban, Taguig TSC Chairman Freddie P. Hernandez, LTFRB NCR Regional Director Atty. Zona Russet Tamayo, HMP President Hiroshi Aoki and HMP Chairman Vicente Mills, Jr. also graced the event.

Hino takes pride in being the only one-stop shop for trucks and buses nationwide, customizing vehicles to customers’ requirements from design to manufacturing. The company’s modern jeepneys use the Beep Card system and feature a speed limiter, GPS, CCTV, a dashboard-mounted camera and air-conditioning. Built according to the requirements set by the Bureau of Philippine Standards, a Class II Hino jeepney can accommodate 23 commuters in comfortable, seatbelt-secured and perimeter seats.

“Hino is honored to be one of the pioneer suppliers of modern jeepneys to the cooperatives selected to kick-off the PUVM program. We strongly believe that our quality products can make commuting safer and more efficient for Filipinos. We are looking forward to partnering with other transport groups as we move forward with our goal of a more sustainable transportation system for the Philippines,” said Mills.
