MVP Rewards is a collaboration of PLDT, Smart, and Voyager Innovations through its digital financing services arm, PayMaya Philippines, and its digital marketing arm, Hatch.

“The MVP Rewards is in a category of its own. We’ve taken what is best across industries and put it in one powerful program that offers more than just rewards,” said PLDT chairman and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan.

To become a member of MVP Rewards, customers must log on to www.mvprewards.ph to register and create an account.

Customers are rewarded by paying their monthly bills in full/on time, or whenever they load their prepaid numbers. Earned points don’t expire, allowing customers to choose when, where and how to claim the rewards.

“Points are automatically credited into your virtual and physical MVP Rewards card powered by PayMaya. You can use it as you use your PayMaya account whether online or by tapping or swiping your card,” said Annette Tirol, FVP and group head, Loyalty and Rewards at PLDT. MVP Rewards members simply need to download the PayMaya app and activate their virtual card.

Tirol said the reward card can be shown at establishments nationwide and enjoy deals and privileges, used to pay bills using PayMaya app or using the reward card to enjoy cashless shopping. Each month, customers are part of a members-only raffle where they can win bill rebates. Rebates won are also credited directly to the rewards wallet.

Eric Alberto, CRO at PLDT and Smart, and president and CEO at ePLDT, said MVP Rewards is different from all the other rewards cards in the market as it can be used as a digital tool.

“Through MVP Rewards, you’re not only earning points, but independent of the rewards program where you can earn points, you could actually use it as a very vital digital tool by which you participate in the technology and digital ecosystem,” said Alberto.

Dindo Marzan, VP and managing director at Voyager Innovations, said that MVP Rewards serves as a Visa card where a member can use it to subscribe to Spotify, Netflix, buy digital and physical goods or buy something over the counter. “It’s as good as cash, only it’s prepaid. That’s the extent that this rewards card can do. This is something very different compared to other rewards card in the market.”

Regarding the security of transactions, Marzan said that as MVP Rewards is powered by PayMaya which is regulated by Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, so they follow regulations expected from a bank.

In terms of loading PayMaya e-wallet, Marzan said users can use Union Bank, Metrobank, 7-Eleven, Ministop, Robinsons and SM business center. “We have 15,000 centers that you can use to load up your PayMaya account which in effect is the MVP Rewards e-wallet. We’re still working on other partners or banks with the goal of making it available in any banks as well.”
