Wireless services provider Smart Communications, Inc. has launched Street Smart, an app bundle that furnishes motorists and passengers with tools for, and information about current traffic conditions in Metro Manila. A perfect buddy for drivers and commuters alike, Street Smart provides unlimited access to traffic and navigation apps through Smart’s network.
Street Smart is offering six packages of the most common transportation, navigation and information apps into one affordable data bundle, available for as low as P10 a day, P50 for seven days, P99 for 15 days, and P199 for 30 days.
These packages include mobile apps such as Waze, a crowd sourced traffic navigation app; Easy Taxi, a taxi booking app; PinoyTravel, a bus reservation app; NLEX Assist, a traffic and deal app for the North Luzon Expressway; RaincheckPH, a powerful app for rain updates; and the mobile Web site of InterAksyon.com, the online news portal of broadcasting firm TV5.
“With the so-called ‘carmageddon’ looming over Metro Manila due to a number of simultaneous road repairs and infrastructure projects, commuters and drivers alike need to be equipped with the latest tools and information to help them avoid traffic jams and delays on the road,” said Michele Curran, Data and International Services marketing at Smart.
“The Street Smart bundle offers the perfect package that is easy on the pocket so drivers and commuters can ‘live more’ as Smart helps them reach their destinations safely, quickly, and conveniently,” Curran added.
For drivers to see which roads are clogged with vehicular traffic and other road obstructions, the Waze application, where reports from fellow Waze users is also monitored, is a big help. On the other hand, the NLEX Assist app guides drivers with the latest traffic situation on the expressway whenever they travel up north.
Using mobile phones, passengers can now avoid the hassle of waiting for long queues in ticket stations through the PinoyTravel and Easy Taxi apps which conveniently book their taxi or bus trips.
By checking the RainCheckPH app, commuters would be informed at once so they can be better prepared with other factors that could affect or worsen the traffic situations such as rain, transport strikes and class suspensions. And for travelers or drivers to know the latest news updates before they go to their destinations, they can visit the InterAksyon.com mobile Web site.
To subscribe to the Street Smart bundle, Smart Prepaid subscribers only need to text STREET 10 (P10 for one day), STREET 50 (P50 for seven days), STREET 99 (P99 for 15 days), or STREET 199 (P199 for 30 days) to 211. Street Smart packages will soon be available for Smart Postpaid subscribers, and other transport and navigation apps will be added in the future.
