Lenovo strengthens brand presence in Cebu

Lenovo has announced that, to seize the growth opportunity offered by the Philippine smartphone and tablet market particularly outside Metro Manila, it partnered with Open Communications Inc. to strengthen the brand’s presence in Cebu.

Lenovo“Strengthening our brand presence in Cebu is part of Lenovo’s Attack strategy to help propel us to become the leader in the PC Plus era,” according to Michael Ngan, country general manager of Lenovo Philippines.

According to the National Statistics Office (NSO), Cebu’s population has increased by almost half a million from 2000 to 2010, an increase rate of 1.94% annually. Metro Cebu is now the second most populous metropolitan in the country, following Metro Manila. One of the major reasons for the increase in population size is due to the fact that the business sector, particularly in manufacturing, real estate and BPO services, is slowly diverting its attention to Metro Cebu for more investments. This growth in population may also be attributed to the booming tourism of the province. The city of Cebu has also been known as an important area of commerce, trade and education in the Visayas region.

Already, Lenovo participated in this year’s Sinulog Festival, a yearly religious festival in Cebu held every third Sunday of January to honor the Sto. Niño, representing the pagan origin of the Filipinos and their acceptance of Roman Catholicism. This year, Lenovo joined the annual grand parade that culminated the Sinulog Festival.

In addition, Lenovo also recently opened their first concept store dedicated to their smartphones and tablets at the 3rd level of Ayala Center Cebu.

Similarly, Lenovo launched its latest premium smartphone in Cebu, the Lenovo Vibe X which is thin at 6.9mm, and lightweight at 121 grams (0.26 lbs). The unit is engineered with the latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system, and runs on a Quad-Core MTK 6589T 1.5GHz processor to drive optimum performance.
