SEC recognizes Globe CSCCO as private sector sustainability champion

This honor, part of the SEC Gender and Development Awards, commends Crisanto’s significant contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). The award highlights the growing role of corporate leaders in shaping long-term, purpose-led growth across Philippine businesses and industries.

The Securities and Exchange Commission has named Globe Telecom’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer, Maria Yolanda “Yoly” Crisanto, as the recipient of the 2025 Private Sector Sustainability Champion Award.

Building upon her distinction as Sustainability Leader by Campaign Asia Pacific Women Leading Change (2022) and Asia’s Top Sustainability Superwomen by CSRWorks International (2018), the SEC 2025 Private Sector Sustainability Award solidifies Crisanto’s legacy as a recognized and pioneering leader in driving corporate sustainability across the Philippines. Globe has been a UN Global Compact Participant since 2019. The award affirms Crisanto’s visionary approach in tackling Sustainability challenges and opportunities, which led to Globe institutionalizing ESG metrics in the company’s Balanced Scorecard targets starting in 2020 and the publication of ESG-linked policy commitments that set the tone, direction, and long-term commitment of the company.

Under her guidance, Globe became the first publicly listed company in the country to secure validated net-zero targets through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This achievement qualified the company as a Faster Forward participant in Climate Action in the UN Global Compact.

Beyond environmental stewardship, Crisanto has championed high-impact social initiatives. She spearheaded the Hapag Movement in 2022 to address involuntary hunger, supporting over 120,455 families. The launch of the Digital Thumbprint Program in 2016 has helped equip 11,600 students in 2025 alone with essential digital skills and online safety knowledge, eventually being adopted into the DepEd K-12 curriculum.

Globe has earned high ESG marks, including an AA rating from MSCI ESG Research, a CDP A score for Supplier Engagement Assessment, and a B score in CDP Climate for the 2024 cycle, and inclusion in the FTSE4Good Index Series for 10 years. Her leadership was vital in Globe being named as one of TIME and Statista’s Most Sustainable Companies in 2025 and achieving its back-to-back inclusion in Standard Insights’ Consumer Choice Awards in its sustainability-related categories in recent years.

“I am happy to be recognized for our ESG work at Globe. This award is shared with the entire Globe community who are equally passionate and committed to bring positive change to our country and active stewardship of our planet.” “ESG practice has since evolved, and true practitioners know it’s not about ticking boxes. It is about innovating, building effective, environment-friendly solutions that can outlast any one person or initiative,” said Crisanto. “We continue this work because climate risks are real, inequality still exists, and digital transformation must include everyone.”

The recognition strengthens Globe’s commitment to positioning digital infrastructure as a force for inclusive, sustainable progress, supporting the national agenda through innovation with purpose.
