MVP Group joins forces with DSWD to uplift Filipino communities

Under the agreement, PSF and Tulong Kapatid will closely coordinate with the DSWD in implementing initiatives that are rooted in compassion for the Filipino people. This MOU signifies a whole-of-nation approach, recognizing that progress and development are only possible when both public and private sectors come together with a united vision.

In every community development program of the MVP Group lies a shared vision — that no Filipino is Left Behind. Guided by this vision, the PLDT-Smart Foundation (PSF) and the MVP Group of Companies’ corporate social responsibility consortium, Tulong Kapatid, have officially partnered with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed on April 10, 2025.

The partnership underscores a collective effort to serve communities across the country by aligning private sector support with the DSWD’s national programs and services. Through this collaboration, PSF and Tulong Kapatid aim to help address pressing needs in areas such as livelihood, education, disaster response, digital inclusion, and other forms of community development. PSF and the MVP Group bring not only resources, but also a deep understanding of grassroots realities and a commitment to long-term development.

“We are here today because we share a conviction with the DSWD: that the strength of a nation lies in how it cares for its most vulnerable, and that real service means going beyond our mandates. It means meeting people where they are — whether in the aftermath of a storm, the margins of a barangay, or the quiet desperation of hunger and poverty,” said Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan of the MVP Group of Companies.

“Our mandate as the heart of government, providing for the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized sectors is a responsibility that we do not take lightly. It is our belief that social progress and development can be achieved when all sectors collaborate and work together for the united purpose of extending help to those who need it most, as we steer them towards a better life,” said Secretary Rex Gatchalian of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

This collaboration serves as a testament to the MVP Group’s advocacy of creating shared value — empowering businesses to thrive while also contributing to national progress. Through Tulong Kapatid, the MVP Group continues to demonstrate how corporate efforts, when aligned with public service, can create ripple effects and transformation across the nation.

The partnership also contributes to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), particularly SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. By working together, PSF, Tulong Kapatid, and the DSWD aim to make these global goals a local reality — empowering Filipino communities and creating a more inclusive and sustainable future.

PSF, together with the MVP Group and the DSWD, reaffirms its commitment to building a more connected, empowered, and progressive Philippines.
