As it eyes to become the world\u2019s largest enterprise cloud company, Oracle has announced the hiring of over 800 new salespeople in three months starting March in Asia and the Pacific (APAC). This figure is only a couple of hundred short of the 1,000 sales people that the company aims to employ as it targets the growth of cloud computing across the APAC region.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The growth in the number of sales people should ensure that \u201cwe\u2019ll not just be a vendor; we\u2019ll be your partner, too,\u201d Mina Lim said.<\/em><\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

Globally, the company has over 120,000 employees; and roughly 40,000 are in APAC. And according to Mina Lim, country managing director of Oracle Philippines, the additional sales people will not only increase the APAC share of employees in Oracle, but also highlights the company\u2019s view of the region as one of the most promising.<\/p>\n

The growth in the number of sales people should ensure that \u201cwe\u2019ll not just be a vendor; we\u2019ll be your partner, too,\u201d Lim said.<\/p>\n

Based on Oracle’s fiscal fourth-quarter results announced on June 17, the company\u2019s cloud revenue reached more than $2.3 billion. It sold $426 million in new Software as a Service (SaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) business this quarter, more than any cloud services company has ever sold in a single quarter.<\/p>\n

Lim said that Oracle remains as the only company that can deliver a \u201ccomplete, integrated, standards-based suite of services at every layer of the cloud. And you have to have the best products to be the best. We have that, so we can aim to be number one.\u201d<\/p>\n

Oracle is, however, not specifying a target date when it aims to accomplish its goal. But Lim stressed that \u201cwe are in this momentum, and we\u2019ll get there.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new cloud salespeople, who will be expected to help Oracle reach its goal, will be \u201cequipped to enhance customer success and play an integral role in driving the region\u2019s cloud transformation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Specific to the Philippines, Oracle\u2019s priorities for fiscal year 2016 are aligned with the regional moves, particularly in sustaining growth by further building the local team that focuses on cloud, and on bettering Oracle\u2019s value proposition.<\/p>\n
