The squad was distinctly Maya, bringing together colleagues from product development, engineering, technology, data science, consumer business, credit, enterprise, strategic partnerships, marketing, corporate affairs and strategy and programs. Maya defeated Shopee, 3\u20131, in the final at the\u00a0Atleta\u00a0\u201963 Turf Field in Bridgetowne, Pasig City. The victory capped an unbeaten campaign from July to August, with the team winning all nine matches, scoring 31\u00a0goals\u00a0and conceding only three.<\/p>\n

The team advanced through victories over UnionBank, Wells Fargo, Shopee,\u00a0GCash, JPMorgan Chase,\u00a0RCM\u00a0and Globe before defeating UnionBank, 2\u20130, in the semifinals.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe came from very different teams across Maya, but on the\u00a0pitch\u00a0everyone had one\u00a0priority: do what the team needed,\u201d said\u00a0Mohamed Omar Mahmoud,\u00a0Maya football team\u00a0co-captain\u00a0and\u00a0senior strategic partnerships officer.\u00a0\u201cPeople showed up, trained hard and trusted one another. Going 9\u20130 was special, but the best part was winning it together.\u201d<\/p>\n
