{"id":75434,"date":"2026-10-06T10:11:55","date_gmt":"2026-10-06T02:11:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/?p=75434"},"modified":"2026-10-06T10:11:55","modified_gmt":"2026-10-06T02:11:55","slug":"maya-links-workers-financial-health-to-it-bpm-competitiveness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.upgrademag.com\/web\/2026\/10\/06\/maya-links-workers-financial-health-to-it-bpm-competitiveness\/","title":{"rendered":"Maya links workers\u2019 financial health to IT-BPM competitiveness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Maya is urging employers in the information technology and business process management (IT-BPM) sector\u00a0to make workers\u2019 financial health part of their competitiveness agenda by connecting digital payroll with access to savings and responsible credit.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the International IT-BPM Summit 2026, Maya Bank President Angelo Madrid said the industry\u2019s investment in skills and technology should be accompanied by financial services that help its workforce manage everyday expenses and build savings.<\/p>\n<p>The IT and\u00a0Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) reported that the sector supported 1.9 million workers and generated more than US$40.3 billion\u00a0in revenue in 2025, contributing 8% to national GDP.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFilipino workers who help customers around the world manage their finances should also have the tools to build financial security for themselves,\u201d Madrid said. \u201cWe are working with employers to connect salary payments with savings tools and credit suited to workers\u2019 needs and ability to repay, helping them manage everyday expenses and prepare for emergencies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Maya, providing digital financial services in the Philippines, is working with IBPAP and business process outsourcing (BPO) companies to expand employees\u2019 access to financial services and modernize payroll, disbursement and reimbursement processes. The collaboration brings together employers\u2019 operational needs and the financial well-being of their workforce.<\/p>\n<p>Through Maya Business, employers can send salaries and other employee payouts digitally and at scale. This can help reduce manual processes and administrative work, particularly for companies\u00a0operating\u00a0across multiple sites and around the clock, while providing visibility over employee payouts.<\/p>\n<p>Employees can receive and manage their pay through the Maya app, which connects everyday payments with banking services. Maya Savings,\u00a0Personal Goals and Time Deposit Plus provide ways to set money aside, while credit products are available to eligible customers, subject to assessment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe opportunity is to make payroll more efficient for employers while helping employees manage their money beyond payday,\u201d Madrid said. \u201cProgress should mean more businesses using digital financial tools and more employees able to save, meet their obligations and prepare for unexpected expenses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Madrid said the industry\u2019s move into higher-value\u00a0financial-services\u00a0work\u00a0also calls for teams that combine financial\u00a0expertise,\u00a0technology\u00a0and sound judgment.
