For\u00a0the\u00a0third consecutive year,\u00a0Maya,\u00a0the\u00a0country\u2019s leading digital financial services platform,\u00a0has been recognized at\u00a0the\u00a0HR\u00a0Excellence Awards Philippines, this time for reworking how employees get everyday work done, receive feedback and navigate\u00a0their careers.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The\u00a0thinking behind much\u00a0of\u00a0that work mirrors how\u00a0Maya\u00a0builds its digital payments and banking products \u2014 find\u00a0the\u00a0friction and take it\u00a0out. Why should routine work have to wait for\u00a0HR?<\/p>\n

Maya\u00a0has been moving more everyday transactions into self-service, giving employees and managers direct ownership\u00a0of\u00a0processes that previously required\u00a0HR\u00a0manual intervention, and using technology\u2014including AI\u2014to take repetitive work\u00a0out\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0way. In parallel,\u00a0the\u00a0company has redesigned how performance and career development are handled.<\/p>\n

At\u00a0the\u00a02026 awards held\u00a0at\u00a0Grand Hyatt Manila, among around 64 companies that participated across various categories, Maya\u00a0received a Silver Award for Excellence in Performance Management Evolution and a Bronze Award for Excellence in\u00a0the\u00a0Use\u00a0of\u00a0HR\u00a0Tech and\u00a0was named a finalist in five additional categories: Employee Engagement, Employer Branding, Leadership Development, Talent Acquisition and Talent Management.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0shifts are concrete. Employees can now generate commonly requested documents \u2014 such as\u00a0their\u00a0own Certificates of\u00a0Employment as support documents for travel, bank and loan application requirements\u2014while managers can\u00a0initiate\u00a0transfers, promotions and other team changes directly in\u00a0the\u00a0system instead\u00a0of\u00a0routing inputs through manual consolidation and uploads.<\/p>\n

AI is applied\u00a0the\u00a0same way. For BIR Form 2316 validation,\u00a0Maya\u00a0uses AI-assisted checks to flag inconsistencies at submission, allowing\u00a0HR\u00a0teams to focus on exceptions rather than reviewing every form entry manually.\u00a0AI is also being used for LinkedIn recruitment sourcing and market data.<\/p>\n

Performance management has also moved beyond\u00a0the\u00a0traditional year-end review. Managers are expected to discuss priorities and progress throughout\u00a0the\u00a0year, give feedback while employees can still act on it, and connect current performance with future development.<\/p>\n

Career development is getting more\u00a0structured\u00a0as well.\u00a0Maya’s Career Growth Navigation framework spells\u00a0out\u00a0what is expected in an employee’s current role, what readiness for\u00a0the\u00a0next level looks like and\u00a0the\u00a0different paths employees can take \u2014 whether as specialists, through lateral moves, or into leadership.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are things employees should be able to do without\u00a0waiting\u00a0for\u00a0HR, and technology helps us get those\u00a0out\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0way,\u201d said\u00a0Charee Lanza, People Group Head at\u00a0Maya. \u201cBut\u00a0there are also things you\u00a0cannot\u00a0automate\u2014good feedback, coaching, career\u00a0conversations and\u00a0important\u00a0people\u00a0decisions. We want our teams spending more time on those.\u201d<\/p>\n
