Globe<\/a>\u00a0is strengthening collaborations with global technology leaders as it brings\u00a0Starlink Mobile<\/a>, the world\u2019s largest satellite-to-mobile network, to more Filipinos. The initiative builds on Globe\u2019s landmark partnership with Starlink, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia, which aims to extend connectivity beyond the reach of traditional cell towers.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

To help ensure a seamless experience for users, Globe is collaborating with global technology companies, digital platforms, and handset manufacturers to optimize satellite-ready devices for satellite connectivity. Popular apps including Messenger, WhatsApp, and Google Maps are already optimized for satellite-based connectivity scenarios, while Globe is enhancing its own platforms such as\u00a0GlobeOne<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Globe Benta<\/a>\u00a0to help keep essential digital services accessible.<\/p>\n

Leading handset manufacturers including\u00a0Samsung<\/a>, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Huawei, Tecno, Realme, Infinix, and Honor are also supporting device-level readiness to help improve compatibility and performance across supported devices. Together, these collaborations aim to improve compatibility, enhance performance, and deliver a more seamless user experience.<\/p>\n

Last July, Globe brought mobile connectivity to\u00a052 previously unserved Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs)<\/a>. This milestone completed Globe’s commitment to activate mobile services across all 180 project locations under the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT)’s\u00a0connectivity initiative<\/a>.<\/p>\n

To help address the remaining connectivity gaps, Globe partnered with Starlink to extend connectivity beyond the reach of traditional cell sites. For as low as \u20b199 for 30 days,\u00a0Globe Prepaid<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0TM<\/a>\u00a0customers with compatible LTE smartphones can access 2 GB of data and 100 satellite texts over Starlink’s low-Earth orbit satellite network. Customers can also choose a \u20b1299, 90-day promo with 10 GB of data and 500 satellite texts.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are happy to be among the first in Asia to offer satellite-to-mobile connectivity because it suits our geography well. This service brings digital inclusion to many Filipinos and households in GIDAs and islands as well,\u201d said Darius Delgado, Chief Commercial Officer at Globe. \u201cThrough our partnership with Starlink and collaboration with global technology leaders, we are leveraging next-generation technology to deliver essential connectivity, even in the most challenging environments.\u201d<\/p>\n

Globe said these collaborations are especially important in ensuring that widely used apps and digital services remain accessible during emergencies and in areas with limited terrestrial coverage. The company aims to improve usability and reliability within satellite connectivity environments.<\/p>\n

A key part of this ecosystem is Android devices, which represent the majority of devices on the Globe network. To deliver a next-generation experience, Android is pioneering seamless integration with satellite technology to ensure users remain connected regardless of their location. By integrating satellite support more deeply across the Android ecosystem with partners, users are able to stay connected in remote areas and locations beyond traditional cellular coverage.<\/p>\n

These efforts reflect Globe\u2019s broader commitment to delivering more dependable connectivity experiences for Filipinos wherever they may be.
