Dell has launched a shared infrastructure solution geared towards helping small and medium businesses (SMBs) and remote offices of large enterprises meet their IT requirements.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The PowerEdge VRTX (pronounced as Vertex) is a convergence of server, storage, and networking technologies in a single compact chassis with enterprise-class features and capabilities. The system is bundled with server nodes, storage, redundant power supply, cabling and networking\u2014all packed into a 5U rack form factor.<\/p>\n

The VRTX is ideal for SMBs that have minimal IT resources and minimal IT staff, said Allan Divinagracia, Team Lead – Enterprise Solutions Group, Dell Philippines.<\/p>\n

Due to its compact chassis, PowerEdge VRTX uses up to 86% fewer cables aimed at saving costs and time as well as reduce the potential of error; and offers flexible alternative.<\/p>\n

Positioned as a private-cloud-in-a-box, the PowerEdge VRTX supports up to four server nodes in a single box. These nodes, powered by Intel Xeon E5 processor, can be a M520 blade which comes with an embedded one gigabit Ethernet, or the M620 blade which has a 10-gigabit Ethernet built into it.<\/p>\n

The unit is also equipped with massive shared storage capacity that can handle up to 48TB using either 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch hot-plug hard drives, and it is powered by a redundant 110V power supply unit. It also offers I\/O expansion in the form of eight shared PCIe slots \u2013 three full-height\/full length and five low-profile\/half-length.<\/p>\n

To resolve the problems of systems management tool proliferation and complexity, the PowerEdge VRTX\u2019s Chassis Management Controller enables the management of the server nodes, storage and networking components from a single console.<\/p>\n

CMC\u2019s easy-to-use GUI together with Dell OpenManage tools and iDRAC7 with Lifecycle controller integrated within each server node allows the management of hardware in physical, virtual, local and remote environments, operating in-band or out-of-band, with or without a systems management software agent.<\/p>\n

The VRTX can also be remotely managed using OpenManage Essentials, which monitors and manages multiple VRTX systems in different locations, and with the new GeoView feature, OpenManage Essentials can be configured to show each system\u2019s map location and health status.<\/p>\n

The PowerEdge VRTX can run most operating systems and virtualization platforms such as Hyper-V and VMWare.<\/p>\n
